Uber is contemplating a higher takeover bid for Delivery Hero following a rejection of its initial proposal, sources indicate.

The San Francisco-based ride-hailing and delivery service had reached out to a significant shareholder of Delivery Hero with an offer of €38 per share, which assesses the total value of the company at more than €11.5 billion. Nonetheless, this bid was turned down.

In a board meeting convened on Saturday, Uber's leadership deliberated on the options for potentially making an elevated offer aimed at securing a complete acquisition of Delivery Hero.

This situation marks a notable intensification in Uber's strategy within the global food delivery sector, highlighting the company's earnest intent to achieve full ownership of one of its primary competitors in the market.
