Eli Lilly to buy three small vaccine developers
The companies are working on shots against pathogens that can cause long-term health issues
Eli Lilly announced on Tuesday its intentions to acquire three early- and mid-stage vaccine developers, marking a significant advance for the vaccine sector.
The total potential cost of these acquisitions could reach nearly $4 billion. This move reflects Lilly’s ongoing strategy to leverage its substantial cash reserves, bolstered by its successful GLP-1 business. In recent months, the company has also taken steps to acquire firms focused on various health conditions, including cancer, autoimmune diseases, and sleep disorders, each at a valuation below $10 billion.
The three companies included in these transactions are Curevo, LimmaTech Biologics, and Vaccine Company.
