Kylie Minogue Refutes Rumor She Appears on Madonna's 'Confessions II'

Kylie Minogue has responded to ongoing speculation regarding her potential feature on Madonna's forthcoming album, Confessions II. Scheduled for release on July 3, this album marks Madonna's 15th studio LP and serves as a companion piece to her iconic 2005 work, Confessions on a Dance Floor. Fans have expressed excitement over the possibility of a collaboration between the two pop icons.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times related to her new Netflix documentary, Kylie, Minogue clarified the situation, stating, "That's a random thing. There was a rumor I was on her album, but I'm not — I'm excited to hear it, all."

Despite this, Minogue did confirm that she is currently working on new music. "There's a new song called 'Light Up' that lives perfectly within the documentary," she stated. "It's not a 'Padam,' but it's got a lot of heart."

Discussing the inspiration for "Light Up," Minogue elaborated: "Initially, I was thinking about my mom, 'cause you can see in this documentary — don't make me cry — I love her so much. I was writing about when you're struggling, whether you're a child or a grown-up, and someone who loves you will look into your eyes and, like a manga cartoon, you kind of zoom in and you see this world of possibility. When you're lost, helpless, or glassy-eyed, someone who can see in you what you can't see can light you up, and you can get through that moment."

She added, "You can get out on stage and do that thing that you're supposed to do when everything feels like you couldn't do it, so it's like parental love, friendship love, can spread to audience love. Because they will give you the strength to go out and have those moments to share. It's a beautiful thing."

In 2024, Minogue and Madonna shared the stage at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles during Madonna's Celebration concert, where they performed duets of Minogue's "Can't Get You Out of My Head" and Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" in honor of International Women's Day.

The previous year, Minogue humorously remarked on the immense impact she and Madonna would have if they performed together. "She's going on tour. I don't have Madonna's number but if I was in town and she was in town, it would be amazing," she shared with 103.5 KTU. "The building would probably fall down. We'd need to send out warnings!"

As for Confessions II, Madonna has already released two tracks, "I Feel So Free" and "Bring Your Love," the latter featuring collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter.
