Maluma made a noteworthy return to the American Music Awards stage after a six-year hiatus, delivering an emotional performance of "Tu Recuerdo." The artist's pride in his Colombian heritage was prominently displayed as he infused the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with the vibrant spirit of his Medellín roots during Sunday night's event.

Accompanied by a full band, backup singers, and a microphone stand adorned with the Colombian flag, Maluma captivated the audience with an exuberant interpretation of his poignant track, resonating with fans present in Las Vegas and those tuning in from around the globe. As his performance approached its conclusion, Maluma energetically stepped off the stage to engage with the crowd, delighting attendees before wrapping up his set amid enthusiastic applause.

Earlier this month, Maluma returned to the music scene with Loco x Volver, his seventh studio album and his first release in three years. Reflecting on the project, the artist shared with Apple Music, "This album was therapy for me," emphasizing a personal journey of reconnection with his inner child. Loco x Volver showcases Maluma's artistry by blending his trademark Latin pop sound with elements from traditional regional genres. The album also features collaborations with notable figures in Latin music, including Arcángel, Grupo Frontera, Justin Quiles, Lenny Tavárez, Ryan Castro, Kany García, Beéle, NG, and Luny Tunes.

Maluma last graced the American Music Awards in 2020, a memorable occasion when he joined forces with Jennifer Lopez to perform their duet "Pa' Ti + Lonely," marking his debut at the prestigious awards show.

This year's ceremony featured an impressive lineup of performers alongside Maluma, including Karol G, Katseye, Teddy Swims, Sombr, and others.
