Lewis Waters passed away earlier this week due to meningitis.

The family of a teenage boy who succumbed to meningitis has described him as "a funny, kind hearted soul."

Lewis Waters was a sixth-form student at The Henley College in Oxfordshire and tragically lost his life to the infection.

In a heartfelt tribute shared on Facebook, his family expressed their devastation, stating that "words simply can't describe the heartbreak and upset we're going through."

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) reported that two additional pupils, one from Reading Blue Coat School and another from Highdown Secondary School and Sixth Form Centre in Reading, are also undergoing treatment for meningitis.

On Thursday, the UKHSA revealed that a social network linking Lewis to the other two individuals had been identified.

As a precaution, close contacts associated with all three students are being provided antibiotics.
