23andMe offers to connect users' DNA data with medical records

Partnership with HealthEx to combine genetics, lab results, and lifestyle data

23andMe is set to enhance its offerings by enabling customers to import their medical records, providing what it terms "a 360-degree view of their personal health." This new offering will feature an AI-generated 23andMe Health Summary, which the company has indicated is currently in development and will soon be available to select beta testers.

"We are moving toward a world of dynamic disease risk predictions based on an individual's most current health data. The aim is to offer improved, more personalized insights by integrating an individual's DNA with their medical records," stated Robin Smith, the head of product at 23andMe, in relation to this initiative.

This announcement was made during the STAT 2026 Breakthrough Summit West on Tuesday, an annual gathering that focuses on the convergence of advancements in biology and technology. The new feature will leverage the technology of the startup HealthEx, which is designed to facilitate the portability of medical records for users.
