X is implementing measures to address the misuse of its revenue-sharing program by large accounts that have been "programmatically reuploading content from smaller accounts," as stated by Nikita Bier, who leads the company’s creator monetization initiatives.

In recent weeks, X has identified several prominent accounts that have engaged in the reuploading of smaller creators’ content to bypass original authors’ crediting and to obtain unfair financial benefits. In response, X is now prioritizing the identification of these posts and reallocating revenue to the original content creators rather than those who have reposted the material without authorization.

The organization is allocating significant engineering resources to develop sophisticated models aimed at detecting and preventing instances of content theft. Bier underscored that this decision is centered on safeguarding smaller creators whose work has been appropriated by larger accounts attempting to profit from the success of viral content.

X’s strategy differentiates between various forms of content sharing. The platform permits users to share videos from other platforms on X and claim to be the initial poster. However, X strictly prohibits large accounts from taking videos from other X users shortly after they are uploaded, which allows them to siphon impressions and potential revenue.

Additionally, X is establishing clearer guidelines concerning content attribution. Users can utilize features like Video Reshare or Quote posts to disseminate content while ensuring appropriate credit is given. Commentary on shared content remains encouraged and will earn a portion of impressions; however, original posts will consistently receive the majority of revenue distribution.

This initiative addresses persistent concerns voiced by smaller creators regarding the appropriation of their content by accounts with larger followings. Numerous creators have expressed gratitude for X's enforcement actions, highlighting the increasing significance of proper attribution as the platform’s creator monetization program continues to grow.

The measure is indicative of X's commitment to balancing creator incentives while protecting intellectual property rights on its platform, as the company refines its revenue-sharing models to better reward original content production.
